Home Health Aide

The Home Health Aide curriculum was designed as a 40-hour add-on course to follow a certified nurse assistant curriculum that meets Federal and State regulations.  The clinical hours are given in the assisted living facility/long term care facility or home health agency. The student must pass a clinical skills demonstration.

The emphasis is on Caring, Ethics, Cultural Sensitivity, Team Building, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving.  The following content areas are included: Introduction to Home Health Agency and Agency Role. Interpretation of Medical and Social Needs of Clients. Personal Care Services. Nutrition, Cleaning and Care Tasks in the home.

The Home Health Aide course provides a Home Health Aide Certificate approved by the Department of Health Services and allows the home health aide worker to function at an entry level position on a health care team in a home health agency.  The student will receive a Certificate of Completion upon satisfactory completion of the program.
